No More Interviews for Some Government Jobs in J&K: Selection Only Through Written Test

Srinagar, 14 Feb: The government of Jammu and Kashmir has taken an important step to make the recruitment process for government jobs fairer and more transparent. A new rule has been introduced, which says that for some government posts, there will be no interviews or oral tests. The selection will now depend only on the marks secured in a written examination.

This new rule was announced on February 14, 2025, through an official order issued from the Civil Secretariat in Jammu. The decision was taken by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, using the authority given under Article 309 of the Indian Constitution. The government believes that this move will reduce any chances of favoritism or unfair selection during interviews.

However, this change will not affect posts that have already been advertised by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB). For those posts, the selection process will continue as per the previous rules.

There is one more condition mentioned in the order. If a particular job requires a skill test or a trade test, such tests will still be held. For example, if a job involves typing skills or any other technical skill, candidates will have to prove their ability through a practical test, as per the existing recruitment rules.

Government employees and job aspirants have welcomed this decision, hoping that it will bring more fairness and reduce the stress of facing interviews.

Many believe this will encourage hardworking and deserving candidates, especially those from remote areas, who often feel nervous during interviews.
