JKSSB Inquiry: Why the Silence on JKP Constable Exam Irregularities?

JKSSB Inquiry: Why the Silence on JKP Constable Exam Irregularities?
Srinagar, Feb 10: It has been weeks since the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) promised to look into complaints about the recently declared JKP Constable exam results. But since then, there has been nothing—no updates, no explanations. Just silence.
For many aspirants, that silence is becoming unbearable.
When the results for the JKP Constable Telecommunication and Photography exams were announced, celebrations quickly turned into frustration. Candidates noticed something odd—several top scorers in these technical papers had previously performed poorly in the much simpler Executive/Armed/SDRF exam. How could someone struggle with a basic test but suddenly excel in a highly technical one? The numbers just didn’t add up.
The concerns spread like wildfire, forcing JKSSB Chairperson Indu Kanwal Chib to step in. She assured everyone that an inquiry would be conducted within a specific timeframe. That promise was enough to calm people—for a while. But now, with no word from the board, that patience is running out.
“We’ve been waiting, checking for updates every day, but there’s nothing,” said an aspirant who didn’t want to be named. “If there was really an inquiry, shouldn’t we have at least heard something by now?”
Repeated attempts to reach Indu Kanwal Chib have gone unanswered. Candidates say they feel abandoned, left to wonder if the issue is being taken seriously at all.
“This isn’t just about an exam. It’s about our future,” said another aspirant. “If the board doesn’t clear the air, how can we trust any recruitment process?”
The recruitment drive was a big one—the first of its kind since 2019. The exams were held in December to fill 4,002 vacancies, covering both general aptitude and technical skills. Now, instead of moving forward with their careers, aspirants are stuck, waiting for answers that never seem to come.
If JKSSB doesn’t break its silence soon, trust in the system may be damaged beyond repair.
