Important Update from Education Department on Winter Vacation in Kashmir
Srinagar, Feb 9 – The government will not change the winter break schedule for schools in Kashmir, even if the weather improves, Director of School Education GN Itoo said on Saturday. The earlier order will stay in place.
He assured parents that they only need to pay half of the transport fees for the winter months. “If any school charges full fees, strict action will be taken,” he warned.
Many parents have complained about private schools demanding extra fees. Itoo promised that a special committee is looking into the matter. “We understand parents’ concerns. The committee, led by the Joint Director of School Education, will ensure fair action within a set time,” he added.
On the issue of textbook shortages, Itoo admitted there was a delay but said 60% of free books have already been given to government schools. “The decision to change the academic session was made suddenly, so JKBOSE didn’t get enough time to prepare. But we will make sure all books are distributed before schools reopen,” he said.
Talking about upcoming board exams, the Director said all preparations are in place for a smooth and fair process. “A high-level meeting was held with JKBOSE officials, education officers, and law enforcement to ensure transparency. Special focus is being given to schools in remote areas,” he said.
The government, he assured, is working to make things easier for both students and parents.
