JKSSB Responds to Allegations of Irregularities in Constable Exam
Srinagar, 22 January: The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has initiated an inquiry into allegations of irregularities in the results of the written exams conducted last year for 4,002 constable posts.
The issue has sparked widespread debate on social media, with many candidates questioning the fairness of the recruitment process.
A senior JKSSB official, speaking anonymously, assured that the board is taking the matter seriously. “The results were announced recently, and it is too early to draw conclusions. However, if any discrepancies are found, strict action will be taken,” the official stated.
The board highlighted that the exams were conducted in a transparent and responsible manner, involving multiple departments of the Union Territory. “It is unfair to question the integrity of the entire process without concrete evidence,” the official added.
The recruitment drive, advertised on July 16 last year, aimed to fill constable posts in various departments, including Executive Police, Armed/IRP/SDRF, Telecommunication, and Photography wings. The exams were conducted in December, with separate tests for different categories.
Concerns arose when discrepancies were noticed in the performance of certain candidates across exams. For instance, a candidate who topped the Photography exam with 91.25 marks scored only 17.5 marks in the Telecommunication exam. Similarly, two siblings scored significantly lower in the general category exam but achieved high marks in the Telecommunication test, which included technical questions.
Results for the general category were declared on January 15, while results for the specialized categories were announced on January 20. Some candidates have raised questions about these inconsistencies, urging the authorities to investigate thoroughly.
An aspirant expressed concerns while advocating for fairness. “The authorities should investigate candidates with significant score variations. However, those who performed consistently well should not face unnecessary trouble,” the candidate remarked.
